Intro and Rules

The Produce Box Challenge is designed to support local farmers, promote eating more vegetables, expand our recipe library and encourage creativity.

Each month we will receive a produce box and divvy up the goods (For anyone not familiar, a produce box is a pre-selected collection of seasonal fruits and vegetables locally grown and delivered to you). We will then partake in a fun Top Chef/Chopped-like challenge of creating a dish. There are only 3 rules for the challenge.

1. We must use 2 or more ingredients from the box to make a dish and one of the ingredients must be less common, as in something the average consumer wouldn’t normally buy at the grocery store on a weekly basis (ex: Bok Choy, Collards, Purple Turnip, Bulb Fennel).

2. We must blog the recipe with a photo of the raw ‘before’ produce and a photo of the resulting dish even if the dish doesn’t turn out as expected/hoped (this includes if it burns, explodes, implodes, curdles, grows fur, etc).

3. Okay, there are only 2 rules but it should be fun. Enjoy!
